Hi, we follow your IG and love your content, we’re so glad we can pick your brains! Can you tell us what made you pick a new build Cala home?

Our last home was a new build and we loved it, so we knew right away that we’d buy another brand-new home, however Jordanhill Park is particularly special for me which made our decision even easier. I (Scott) was a student at Strathclyde University, and at the time the David Stow building, which now sits in the centre of the development, was the main teaching college – I had many lectures and seminars here, so it holds lots of lovely memories. When we first came across the Austin housetype, we just knew it was for us!

Wow, what a full circle moment. Can you tell us what you love most about your Cala home?
It really was meant to be! We absolutely love our bi-fold doors in the kitchen and living area as they allow us to bring the outside into our home which has been great during the summer, especially for Ford! We absolutely love our main bedroom too. Having a whole room on the top floor just for us? What’s not to love! The fact it's so private and has a spacious en-suite with bath and a walk-in wardrobe is fantastic too. We also love the underfloor heating, which is definitely needed during a Scottish winter!

Our other favourite room is our downstairs bathroom, which we call our ‘disco toilet’ complete with neon sign and disco balls!

How did you decide on the colour scheme and tile options for your kitchen?
We were really keen to keep the neutral when it came to designing the kitchen, as we are big fans of contemporary interior design, so this really influenced our tile choices in the kitchen and bathrooms. We also decided that we were going to use our kitchen furniture from our previous house, so this helped us determine colours as we wanted to make sure it went perfectly with our current furniture.

Where do you find your home interior inspiration?
We follow lots of different home interior accounts on Instagram, most of them showcase how you can keep your home light and simple, which we love. The accounts we follow really do inspire us, and we love the character you can give a new build home by adding a few final finishing touches.

Do you have any current favourite home interior trends?
One of our favourite home interior trends at the moment is the soft-modern look. I think having modern furniture and light colours with more contemporary, timeless pieces really gives our home a lot of character.

What advice would you give to prospective buyers of a new Cala home?
We’d say to look at a variety of different showhomes and take a look at Instagram home pages for inspiration when choosing your tiles and kitchen design. Keep an open mind too, what you think you might want can change in an instant. Our top tip would be to take time to view the plot you want at different times of the day to make sure you’re happy with where the sun is at the property, this is especially important in the summer!

How simple was the process of buying your new build home with Cala?

It was a really simple process, the sales team are fantastic, they were always on hand for any questions we had. To top it all off, it only took five months from reserving our plot to moving in which was just fantastic. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cala to our friends and family.
