With its idyllic countryside and iconic chocolate box feel, it’s easy to see why villages across the Cotswolds are often cited as some of the most romantic places in the UK.

The picturesque village of Bibury in particular, just 45 minutes away from our Alder Green development, was recently named one of the most romantic places in the UK to visit on a Valentine's escape and there are plenty of other gorgeous places to visit and romantic things to do in the Cotswolds.

From romantic rambles to candlelit dinners, we’re showcasing some of the attractions near our homes in the Cotswolds, which are sure to make you fall even further in love with the area.

Why not wine and dine in Kingsmere?

If food is the key to your heart, you’ll be thrilled that our Cala at Kingsmere development neighbours not one, but two Michelin starred restaurants.

Just 20 minutes from Kingsmere, Nut Tree Inn may look like a humble thatched roof pub but this is not your average date night at the local. Inside, there’s a cosy beamed bar leading through to the main restaurant, serving refined pub classics as well as elegant, sophisticated dishes, all presented with Michelin star magic.

If French fayre is more to your taste, you’re sure to fall for Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons, a Belmond Hotel. This iconic country house restaurant is just a 25-minute drive from our Kingsmere development, but its reputation stretches far and wide. Led by legendary chef Raymond Blanc, dishes demonstrate skillfully executed French cooking with intense flavours, refined combinations and meticulous attention to detail.

With establishments like these as well as a range of traditional pubs, bars and restaurants on the doorstep, our Kingsmere residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to booking a romantic table for date night.

Feel regal romance at Blenheim Palace

Located in the idyllic village of Woodstock, Blenheim Palace is one of England's most opulent houses and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

Famed worldwide for its beauty, the palace and its undulating grounds make for a delightful day out and can be reached in only 20 minutes from our Kingsmere development.

Marvel at the ornate Baroque décor of the house or lose yourself in palace’s 150 acres. With events throughout the year from food festivals and flower shows to live concerts and even jousting tournaments, Blenheim Palace is sure to keep couples and families coming back for more.

Experience Shakespearian romance in Stratford Upon Avon

Our Fernleigh Park development in Long Marston is just a 10-minute drive from the renowned Royal Shakespeare Theatre, one of the most famous places to visit in the Cotswolds. This stage plays host to drama, tragedy and, of course, love in Shakespeare’s famous works, making a trip to this theatre a date night to remember.

And why not partake in a unique pre-show dinner experience aboard the amazing Countess of Evesham. The Countess of Evesham is a popular, family run 70ft restaurant cruiser where you can enjoy peace, tranquility and enchanting views whilst aboard this restaurant boat, cruising some of the most delightful stretches of the gently flowing River Avon.

And getting to Stratford Upon Avon from our Fernleigh Park development couldn’t be more romantic - hop on the greenway by bike or on foot and enjoy a direct, traffic free route to the town centre surrounded by scenic spots, wildlife and nature.

Look out for a charming spot for refreshments at the end of the greenway in the shape of Bobby’s Stratford. Bobby’s is a converted train carriage offering everything from coffee and cake, to hot sandwiches and cocktails. A perfect pitstop after your walk.

But don’t fill up too soon, once in Stratford Upon Avon, you’ll be spoilt for choice with independent cafes, bars and restaurants. From afternoon tea to the finest restaurants, Stratford Upon Avon caters for every taste with a wealth of eateries throughout the town.

Enjoy amorous ambles in Alderton and beyond

Surrounded by picturesque countryside in the Vale of Evesham, our Alder Green development in Alderton hosts the perfect setting for romantic rambles, from the rolling hills of the Alderton Hill Circular to a tranquil stroll along the River Isbourne.

Plus, just a 10-minute drive from the development, you’ll find the beautiful town of Broadway, often referred to as the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds' and the 'Show Village of England'. A trip to this idyllic town is considered among the best things to do in the Cotswolds and is sure to get you in the mood for romance.

This modest hamlet is named after the wide grass-fringed main street, which is lined with red chestnut trees and honey-hued Cotswold limestone buildings, many of which date from the sixteenth century.

These stunning structures now house charming antique stores, inviting tearooms, museums, boutique hotels and a range of independent retailers. Taking a stroll down Broadway high street you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled across a film set. Prepare to be charmed by Broadway’s timeless beauty on a date day where love is in the air.
