New-build homes are well-known for offering modern, low-maintenance living in desirable locations handpicked by housebuilders for their local amenities, sense of community and connectivity to surrounding areas.

Cala Homes’ Sweeters Field development in Alfold near Cranleigh offers just that; which is why Mr and Mrs Payne left the hustle and bustle of Guildford behind, to enjoy low-maintenance, rural living at Sweeters Field.

The couple, who had previously owned a self-build property, were looking for a new home and location which suited their every need, having seen their grown up children move out of their family home.

Lesley says: “We had been living in a self-build home in Guildford for 35 years, which is where we raised our family. With both of us over 60 and no children living at home, we realised that we no longer needed the hustle and bustle of Guildford, so we began looking for a new home, in a more rural location, which would provide a peaceful haven for when we retire. With our previous home being a massive project for us, we didn’t want a home that would require a lot of work, this is why we focussed our house hunt on new builds. We like that they offer a brand new feeling, but are a completely blank canvas to really make it your own.

“We fell in love with Sweeters Field as soon as we saw the development, as it better suited our relaxed lifestyle and offers good road connections to Guildford for work and to see friends. Our new home is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac and we have lovely views over surrounding fields. It’s also really peaceful and quiet – which is exactly what we were looking for we’re only 30 minutes away from work, so it’s lovely to drive back into the stunning countryside of Alfold at the end of a long day; it certainly makes the commute less stressful.”

Located on Loxwood Road in Alfold, Cranleigh, Sweeters Field comprises of a selection of two bedroom bungalows, and three and four bedroom homes. Surrounded by mature trees and open fields, Sweeters Field offers the perfect opportunity to live in a quaint village setting, with quick access to urban amenities. Bustling Cranleigh village sits within just five miles of the development, and the popular towns Horsham and Guildford are both 12 miles away, providing quick access into London via rail connections.

There are just six four-bedroom, detached homes available at Sweeters Field including ‘The Osmore’.  Mrs Payne continues: “As soon as we saw the Osmore home we knew it was perfect for us. We wanted to purchase a low-maintenance home but didn’t want to downsize too much from our previous property so we could still accommodate visiting family and friends. The open plan kitchen and family room is incredible – it truly is the heart of our home and we spend most of our time here. The addition of a utility is also really helpful and something we were looking for in a new home, so we can ensure our kitchen living space remains neat and tidy.

“The whole experience with Cala Homes, and moving into our stunning new home in such a lovely area, really did make it easier saying goodbye to our family home of 35 years.”
